Setting up a tablet takes about ten minutes and needs a USB cable. You only do this once per tablet.

  1. Get the setup app for your computerWindows or Mac. It carries the child app and the USB tools inside it, so there is nothing else to install.
  2. Plug the tablet in and run itIt checks what is in the way — a signed-in account, USB debugging — and tells you what to do about each one before it changes anything.
  3. Come back with the pairing codeThe tablet shows a short code at the end. Type it into "Add a tablet" below.

Who uses your tablets

A profile is one person — a child, or you. You put a tablet on a profile from that tablet’s own screen.

Removing a profile deletes its settings with it and cannot be undone. A profile a tablet is using cannot be removed at all — put that tablet on another profile first, from the tablet’s own screen.

Who’s using it

Switching resumes a tablet your child paused from its own screen, and loses the last few minutes of app time we had not counted yet. It is not instant: the tablet asks this server for its settings about every {sec} seconds, and a switch lands the next time it does.

Typing a package name is the fallback, not the main way in: it is here because the list below only knows apps that have actually been opened, and because this box sets what this one tablet will launch. Family-safe DNS

The resolver you pick refuses to look up adult sites — and it does that by changing where the tablet looks names up, so it covers every app that uses the tablet’s own lookups, and only those. An app with its own resolver is not covered: Firefox has DNS-over-HTTPS on by default, Opera has a VPN built in, and a site opened by its raw IP address skips name lookup entirely. Needs Android 10 or newer.

This service never sees what your child looks up and keeps none of it. The resolver you pick does see every name this tablet asks for — what it keeps is its policy, not ours.

The stronger control is the app list. What an allowed app opens inside itself is the app’s decision and not this tablet’s, so which apps can be opened at all is the one limit here that does not depend on how an app looks names up. This setting is not a device-wide filter — it only changes where names are looked up — so treat it as a speed bump rather than a wall.

Switch the camera off

Off by default — this one is your call, not a safety default. Turning it on disables the camera for the whole tablet, including inside allowed apps. It comes back the moment you turn this off, or when you exit to normal Android.

Unlinking takes this tablet off your account and deletes its settings, schedules and activity from the server. That cannot be undone.

It does NOT unlock the tablet, remove FrameBright from it, or hand it back to your child: the tablet stays set up exactly as it is and keeps running the settings it last received. To link it again — to this account or a different one — open the setup tool on the tablet, get a fresh pairing code, and enter it under “Add a tablet”.

Blocking makes an app disappear from your child’s home screen. It stays gone after they restart the device — it is not a nag they can tap past.

It does NOT delete the app or anything inside it. Saves, worlds, photos, chats and progress are untouched, and they all come back exactly as they were the moment you turn the block off.

It is not instant. The device asks this server for its settings about every {sec} seconds, and a block lands the next time it does — so if the app is open right now, expect it to close within about that long rather than the moment you tap.

This list is what your child can see and open. Background programs — hundreds of them, on any computer — are not here: a list nobody can read is a list nobody uses. An app your child has never once opened has no row yet either.
